Antique Handcarved Wooden Butter Mold Press By LeeAnn McLaneGoetz McLaneGoetzStudioLLC.com In the early 1800s Butter presses make butter more visually appealing for table use. Post churning the butter, they would place the butter in a crock, tub, mold or box. Old,primitive butter mold presses were made from wood and carved with a handle on the top and a flat bottom with a design carved on the underside. The butter would be pressed leaving the design on the top of the butter.
