The story of three ducklings, as the 14 ducklings grew, they decided that to form small groups, as Mother was just too small to allow all of them to sleep under her wings. This may be what Ted Osborne and Al Taliaferro saw when they created the characters Huey, Dewey, and Louie in animated cartoons and comic books in 1937. Their first animated appearance was in the theatrical short Donald's Nephews, released April 15, 1938.
