The Canvasback Ducks, a.k.a. Aythya valisineria,which comes from Vallisneria americana, or wild celery, whose winter buds and rhizomes are its preferred food. The Canvasback is a large diving duck, the Canvasback breeds in prairie potholes and winters on ocean bays. Its sloping profile distinguishes it from other ducks. The Canvas back is considered the "aristocrat of ducks". Saw on the Sait Clair River Between Algonac and Marine City Michigan
